7 Ways of Looking at Cow Face Pose


I.

There's one posture

in the tradition of yin yoga

that shatters me like ice

each and every time

my body assumes its shape.


II.

It is my earnest belief

that this pose

is actually meant

to make the body

as positively useless

as possible.


III.

From the space I hold

within this shape,

I cannot quickly flee

nor can I do much of anything, really,

apart from breathing.


IV.

This shape is a mantra

in and of itself.


V.

When the eyes close here

the limbs become

merely theoretical.


VI.

It is a knot.


VII.

To be in this shape

is to be awake.
