Day 11- 9.27.20
One of my favorite moments from The Artist is Present at MOMA in 2010.
Marina Abramovic
She stares down the barrel of
each visitor, breathing in
the uncomfortable stillness of
shared silence.
And then Ulay arrives like
thunder, like a cumulonimbus cloud
heavy with the weight of twenty years and
shared history.
Their eyes meet across
the wooden table.
A grin of recognition followed by
tears, solemn and slow
and then the unthinkable;
she reaches out and
he catches her palms.
The moment is over before
it begins, and while it's cheapened
by applause, there's something
in his gait as he walks away and
the way she looks down
that feels real as rain.
